Tyianna Alexander

Just when you thought that media outlets were doing a better job on covering trans murders @thechicagosuntimes proved us wrong yet again by writing an article that both misgendered and used the birth name and not her chosen name of our dear sister Tyianna Alexander!

(They’ve now updated it to read that she was a transgender woman)

On the morning of January 6, 2021 on the south Side of Gresham (a neighborhood in Chicago, IL) Two people were shot in a shooting leaving one pronounced dead at the scene and the other died in ICU at a nearby hospital.

A silver-colored vehicle fired shots into the vehicle of the victim’s in the 800 block of West 75th st., striking one 28-year-old Tyianna Alexander who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other person in the vehicle was later identified as Brandon Gowdy who was also struck by the shots fired into the vehicle, Brandon later died due to his injuries while at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Friends and loved ones say that Tyianna identified as a Black trans woman and at the moment officers have not said if this was a hate crime or not but detectives are investigating this homicide if you saw something or know anything that may help these two individuals get the justice they deserve contact cpdtip.com
